Taurine is an organic chemical compound from the group of biogenic amino acids. Another name is 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid. This compound is the end product of the degradation of the sulfuric amino acid cysteine. Synthetic taurine is obtained by ammonolysis of isethionic acid. Taurine has a number of uses, including it couples bile acids before excreting them from the liver. It also helps to transport creatine to the muscles, which results in its more effective use. It influences faster muscle regeneration after exercise. It also has an effect on the central nervous system. It is believed to function as a neurotransmitter.
