Erythrulose

It is used in self-tanning cosmetics, in combination with dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Erythrulose / DHA reacts with amino acids in the proteins of the primary skin layers (stratum corneum and epidermis). One of the paths involves free radicals at one of the stages of the Maillard reaction.
