C12-C14 thinner
Increasing the C₁₂-C₁₄ level in epoxy resins will extend the time of gelling and change the curing properties.
It is the monoglycide ether of the C₁₂-C₁₄ aliphatic alcohol. Used mainly as a high-viscosity reactive thinner of epoxy resins. Product is compatible at all concentrations with these resins and mixtures that can be cured by means of any epoxy resin hardener. This thinner poses a relatively low risk to health due to its low vapour pressure and extremely low level of epichlorohydrin residues. Formulations containing this thinner are recommended for use in poorly ventilated rooms. Typical application of the C₁₂-C₁₄ thinner is the thinner in Part A in floor formulations based in 100% on solid resins. Similarly as in the case of all monofunctional aliphatic epoxides, increasing the C₁₂-C₁₄ level in epoxy resins will extend the time of gelling and change the curing properties.
