Alpha lipoic acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid in our body that depends on the presence of sulfur. It is an important substance soluble both in water and in the lipid environment, acting simultaneously at the level of cell membranes as well as in the cells and tissues themselves. Due to its antioxidant properties, alpha lipoic acid enables the regeneration of other important antioxidants: coenzyme Q10, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E or glutathione. Alpha acid is involved in detoxification processes. Alpha lipoic acid allows the regeneration of damaged DNA structures, lipids and proteins, binds toxic compounds, which makes them better removed from the body. Our body produces a small amount of alpha-lipoic acid. Unfortunately, with age the lack of this substance begins to such an extent that supplementation is necessary, especially after the age of 40.
