2-cresol, 1-hydroxy-2-methylbenzene;

Application

Organic chemical compound from the phenol group, a hydroxyl derivative of toluene or a methyl derivative of phenol.
It is obtained by distillation of gas tar or crude oil. Name “cresol” comes from its traditional source – creosote.
Mainly used in the production of pesticides, pigments, dyes etc.
